Designers invent their artwork. Engineers employ their equations.  Attorneys practice their laws.  Programmers manipulate their codes.

But growing an entire business out of your core competencies requires a whole separate set of skills.  Your “hard skills” are vital, but the truth is, they’re only “Square One.” Scaling your efforts to seize business opportunities demands a lot more than X’s and O’s.

Meaningful growth requires your technical, vocational or professional skills be coupled with human systems, money management, organizational skills, marketing, sales, customer relationships and much more.

And like any natural system, growth follows a distinct process.  It is never random, haphazard or willy-nilly.  Growth is always inside-out and always along a certain pattern, particularly because meaningful growth must go through other people.

Hence, Cornerstone #2: Human Systems.
